An example of the resulting RAPs is shown in figure 7. There are several methods associated with the processing-start RAP, each indexed by a context clause. The method shown is valid when the required reverse-osmosis stage is purged, and the pps-select valve is open to the postprocessing systems (PPSs). In this case, the RAP starts the reverse-osmosis main feed pump, stops the recirculation pump, and turns the pps-select valve to reject (relieving downstream pressure). Then, the RAP turns the reverse-osmosis process valve to the purge position and turns the pps-select valve to the tank position.

The first rescue trucks in the early 1970s typically were built on a light-duty cab chassis with two-wheel drive and gasoline engines because rescue tools and equipment were simple: chains, come-alongs and hand-powered tools. But they evolved to small, lightweight, low-duty cycle vehicles to carry equipment to aid or support an emergency incident. Rescue trucks fall under the "Special Service Fire Apparatus" portion of the standard. A minimum of 120 cubic feet of enclosed compartmentation is needed to meet the requirements. This should be an easy requirement to meet, as even the smallest bodies should have at least double the amount of this requirement. Also, there are some minor equipment requirements that will need to be considered, such as one SCBA for each seated position, but not fewer than two total, and one spare air cylinder for each breathing apparatus carried.

Efficiency is further enhanced with the use of magnetic bearings, which avoid fire friction of rubbing parts associated with traditional oiled bearings. Conventional bearings can use as much as 10,000 w, while magnetic bearings require only 180 w. That amounts to 500 times less friction loss. Current development projects are expanding the range and duty of the compressor wheels surplushydraulicpowerunits and promise to offer even greater efficiency for water-cooled and air-cooled duties and different capacities.CONTROLSThe new compressor effectively is a computer. It provides diagnostic and performance information through Modbus to the refrigeration system, which then communicates to the building automation system through Modbus, LonWorks, or BACnet.CHILLER APPLICATIONThe compressor manufacturer and a major chiller manufacturer teamed up to develop a line of ARI-certified water-cooled chillers, which were expected to be introduced in January 2004. The combination of flooded-evaporator technology surplushydraulicpowerunits and an oil-free system has allowed very close approaches and, subsequently, enhanced performance. The integrated VFD allows excellent part-load performance as power consumption drops off, depending on the head relief, near the cube root of the shaft speed.
